Money Talks {South Carolina Family Photographer}

Dear Valued Client,

I know you work hard, play hard, and live well.  I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I do want to have an honest conversation about money- specifically how it may affect our relationship moving forward.

Great family photography

In efforts to make sure I have a stable business, I had to make some changes to my pricing structure for this year.  After hours of research and mathematical equations, I realized that my earlier model was not sustainable, profitable, or the best use of our time. Because I want to maintain the platform for affordable photography (which in this industry varies based on your location, but in my book, should be something you could save up for in a month) that captures authentic moments between loved ones, I had to take a good hard look at expenses, check my gut, and crunch some numbers.

After all that time, deliberation, discussion, and prayer, I came up with 4 package options to meet a variety of needs and budgets.  The quest to create an affordable option that encourages repeat purchases within a year and provides a livable wage was challenging.  I want to thank you in advance for your understanding, consideration, and support.  While I hope the new pricing model does not discourage you from future bookings, I do hope it helps you understand the value in our sessions and my approach to try and build the business successfully, so I can continue to photograph you and your loved ones for years to come.  A house cannot stand on a shaky foundation and neither can a business.

Tis the Season {Charleston Area Photographer}

The year 2014 is going to bring all sorts of great things.  I am confident of that.  At this point, I don’t know if it will bring me full-time business, a new job, better relationships, another puppy (yes- conversations about this are in the works), or more home improvement projects. No matter what, I know it will bring something new and exciting.

Last year, it was a trip to Germany and a new house.  This year… who knows.

So here is to a season of uncertainty, a winter that has felt like a spring, a spring that will feel like a summer, and a year that will be awesome.  What kind of things do you do when you’re unsure of what is next?

With a Wink and Smile {Mt. Pleasant Family Photographer}

I love having clients return year after year.  To see how a family grows and changes is one of those things I feel so privileged to be a part of.  The Neher/Ogden Family was gracious enough to ask me back this year for their annual extended family photos and we made a party out of it. Well, a playground party at least!

Mt Pleasant fun family photography session

These kiddos are the best.  It was just another Saturday outside with the family, complete with dizziness from spinning, laughter from playing, and crying from leaving.  Happy 2014 Nehers and Ogdens!  May this year be as fun as a Saturday at the park.

Rain, Rain, Go Away {Mt Pleasant Family Photographer}

You can come back another day, but don’t let it be on this family’s session, please!  That’s how we felt all weekend.  There is a fine line when preparing to photograph a family on a rainy day.

In one had, you don’t want to risk getting caught in the rain.  On the other, you don’t want to reschedule and ignore all the wonderful anticipation leading up to the day.

So we risked it.  And it was wonderful.

Here’s to rainy days in party dresses and metal slides.  May your family always have the joy of childhood and stay ageless.

Pringles Beaks {Mt Pleasant Family Photographer}

There are a couple of reasons why I love this family.

  1. They have awesome parents.
  2. The kids are so fun and playful.
  3. They make pretty sweet chip beaks with the remnants of the Pringles can.

And let’s face it.  Having your picture taken is always better when junk food is involved.

And One Ducky Please {Raleigh and Cary Area Family Photographer}

I know a little girl name Emily and she is as cute as a button.  Case and point: when at the park with all the ducks, she very kindly asked if she could hold one and take it her home with her.  World, meet Emily and her parents….

Between feeding the ducks, playing with the leaves, crying, and running were sweet moments between mom and dad, a family enjoying an afternoon at the park, and these precious memories. Thanks for letting me tag along with you, Emily!

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage {West Ashley Announcement Photographer}

And now a baby in a baby carriage!  You first met these two when I wrote about their wedding.  I first met them surrounded by friends, laughter and fun.  It is hard to believe that Click-Click and I have been there for their proposal, wedding and now as they announce news they have waited all their life for.

The Cromptons are having a baby!

Baby Announcements by Songbird Photography

Dear Baby Crompton,

You are so lucky.  Your parents are some of the most warm, wonderful, loving, nurturing and caring people I know.  They have waited for you and prayed for you before they even knew each other!  Your mommy almost jumped over the moon with excitement when she found out you were expected and throughout the trials of pregnancy, she has been so thankful for you in her life.  So get ready, Peanut.  Get ready for the best ride of your life with these two.  They will love you like crazy, spoil you to satisfaction, and keep you well fed throughout the way!  Just remember to play nice with Charlotte….She is sorta queen of the castle.

Love, Auntie Steph
